Dr. Jay Barnett graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston University College of Liberal Arts, and he received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. There he trained at the Boston City Hospital and University Hospital. After completing a three-year Internal Medicine residency at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, he completed a three-year residency in dermatology at the University of Michigan Medical Center. He became board certified in both Internal Medicine and Dermatology. He has been practicing adult and pediatric medical, surgical, and cosmetic Dermatology for more than 25 years.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and is Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology and Health Care Sciences at George Washington University School of Medicine. He is on staff of several hospitals, where he has served as the Section Chairman of Dermatology, and serves on the Physician Leadership Committee of Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Barnett is a member of the DC Dermatological Society and has been consistently named as a top doctor in both Washington Consumer Checkbook Magazine and The Washingtonian Magazine.
Dr. Barnett splits his time between Southwest Floriad and the suburbs of Washington, DC, practicing in Ft. Myers, Fl and Montgomery County, Maryland.
