Additional practice information
Dr. Christopher Harmon completed his dermatology residency at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota in 1994. For the next three years he was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base where he served as a board certified dermatologist. Dr. Harmon is a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, though he grew up in Tupelo, Mississippi. He graduated from Mississippi College in 1986 and from the Tulane University School of Medicine in 1990. He performed a transitional internship at Charity Hospital in New Orleans before beginning his dermatology training.

His research interests include wound healing, skin cancer, cutaneous laser surgery, and cosmetic surgery. After completing a one year fellowship in Moh's micrographic surgery, Dr. Harmon joined Drs. Gary Monheit and Jimmy Krell in private practice in Birmingham, Alabama.

In March 2009, Dr. Harmon opened Surgical Dermatology Group where he performs Mohs Micrographic Surgery, Procedural Dermatology and offers laser and other aesthetic treatments. He has offices in Birmingham, Montgomery and Huntsville, Alabama.

Dr. Harmon has written numerous textbook chapters and scientific papers on dermabrasive and laser skin resurfacing. In 1995, he received the Young Investigator Award as presented by the Journal of Dermatologic Surgery and Oncology for his work with the ultrastructural and immunohistochemical changes following dermabrasion of facial scars. In 1998, he also received a distinguished service award from the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery for his efforts as national coordinator of the S.C.O.R.E.S. (Skin Care OutReach Empowers Survivors) program, which offers free cosmetic surgery to victims of domestic violence.
